Rapture Saturday, Not Too Late for Home Teaching

Boys,
So I went to the bookstore on Tuesday morning (Twice Sold Tales on Capitol Hill is amazing) and got one of these:
I know, right? That's a screamingly good deal! It's a pity the end of the world only comes once, 'cause this coupon only works on one book and my wishlist is really long.

Anyway, according to the New York Times (citadel of religiosity), this latest Rapture craze is set for Saturday. But what time zone? This could impact the planned 5k/waffle breakfast planned for that morning.

I'm reminded of a zone leader I knew on my mission who was convinced he knew when the world was going to end. He apparently either had some seriously good connections in Heaven or thought very highly of his scriptural insights. I was kinda bummed he never let me know the date. If he had, my reaction would probably have looked something like this:
"Valentine's Day. Bummer."

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that this Saturday will likely not involve the Eschaton but instead might involve some lovely weather, waffles and church on Sunday. All are good news. As for scriptural references, I'd include links but the church's website is currently down (a sign, perhaps?). Let's go with:

Matt. 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no [man], no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Mark 13:32 But of that day and [that] hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

D&C 49: 7 I, the Lord God, have spoken it; but the hour and the day no man knoweth, neither the angels in heaven, nor shall they know until he comes.

I'm guessing my old zone leader's extensive gospel scholarship missed that last one. Joking aside, the Second Coming is serious stuff and will eventually happen. The point I'm going for is that when the scriptures indicate that no one knows when it'll happen, they're right. I'm also going to go on a limb and guess that planning on the Eschaton is not a valid career, parenting or retirement strategy. Have a lovely weekend and do your home teaching, just in case. Because after all, no man knoweth the hour....
